The Central Bank of Uzbekistan fined 16 commercial banks, five more received warnings. This became known during the control measures carried out by the Service for Consumer Protection of Banking Services in August-September of this year in the institutions of commercial banks, the press service of the financial regulator informs.

During the control measures, attention was paid to compliance with banking requirements when interacting with consumers. In particular, we are talking about accepting payments through terminals, as well as providing consumers with reliable and complete information about banking services.

As a result, cases of incomplete disclosure to consumers of information about loans and deposits offered by banks, as well as the provision of services through bank cards, were revealed.

Measures were taken against 21 commercial banks for allowing these situations in accordance with article 57 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Banks and Banking Activities". Of these, 16 commercial banks were fined, and five more received warnings, the report says.

In order for consumers to make a rational decision about using banking services, commercial banks must fully disclose information about banking services to consumers and explain their conditions in detail, the Central Bank added.
